Controversial Chinese vaccine Vero Cell allowed to be used in Nepal

The Department of Drug Administration has informed that the vaccine called 'Vero Cell' has been allowed for emergency use in Nepal.

N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- Nepal Government has authorized the emergency use of the controversial Chinese vaccine Vero Cell in Nepal.

The Department of Drug Administration has informed that the vaccine called ‘Vero Cell’ has been allowed for emergency use in Nepal.

A statement issued by the department states that the vaccine was approved on January 16, 2021.

However, the department has signed a notice on February 17, 2021, stating that the vaccine has been allowed for emergency use.

China has announced to provide 500,000 doses of vaccine to Nepal. After the permission, the way has been opened to bring the Chinese vaccine to Nepal and use it.

At present, 1 million doses of Covisild vaccine provided by India is being used in Nepal.
