The main opposition party Nepali Congress will propose its candidate of Prime Minister on Wednesday, according to Congress General Secretary Krishna Prashad Sitaula.
Speaking with the media-persons today, Sitaula informed that the Central Working Committee (CWC) scheduled to be held tomorrow will float the name of PM candidate from the party.
Congress President Sushil Koirala has called the meeting of CWC for tomorrow at 11 AM. Congress was under immense pressure from its allies including CPN (UML) to propose the name of PM candidate from the party. The main ruling party UCPN (Maoist) chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has also time and again asked the Congress to propose the PM candidate as well the political road map to end the current political crisis.
Though there is an informal understanding among the party office bearers to propose Koirala as the PM candidate, however, Congress was saying that it would propose its candidate only after the consensus among the parties to accept the Congress-led government. Congress has agreed to propose its PM candidate tomorrow as the major parties including main ruling party UCPN (Maoist) hinted to support Congress-led government on today’s meeting amid a looming deadline of President second call for formation of national consensus government.
