Congress prepares to postpone ward convention for 10 days

N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- Nepali Congress is preparing to postpone the ward convention for ten days.

The wards convention is being postponed for a few days after the report of the Central Working Committee investigating 5,000 complaints was submitted to the Central Committee and Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba and new activists in some districts including Bara and Saptari were postponed for the time being.

According to the Congress general convention schedule, ward conventions should be held across the country on July 27.

But the final list of active members has not been made public till Monday.

After the investigation committee submits the list of activists to the Central Committee and Chairman Deuba, after the study, Chairman Deuba submits the list to the Central Election Committee.

‘It takes time to send the list of activists to the ward through the district in an envelope. The ward convention will be postponed for about ten days, ‘said a leader.

Once the list is received by the Central Election Committee, it is sent to all the districts. Only then will preparations for the ward convention be completed.

As the voters of the ward convention are active members, the active ones have to be decided first.

The investigation committee has returned the details of the disputed district to the Central Committee. It is up to the officials or the Central Committee to decide what to do with those details. Discussions are also underway within the Congress on the option of holding a convention from the activists of the 13th General Convention in the disputed areas.

According to Pradip Poudel, a member of the investigation committee, the dispute is still pending in about 125 wards. He said that the details of the activists will be handed over to President Deuba soon.
