Ganesh Nepali, by profession, he is a college bus driver and social worker as well. He is founder of “Helping Hands Children Home”, where 21 children are living, studying and sharing happiness together.
37 years old Ganesh Nepali, from western part of Nepal “Srukhet” entered Kathmandu a decade ago. He vows to step his feet ahead on social work and started his contribution from 2012 in this organization “Helping hands children home”. It lies at Dallu, Kathmandu. In this children home, 21 children are living and imagining of their bright future together.
In early morning at 6 am all the children woke up. As soon they finished their as usual morning ritual duties, they started to study. His wife Shanta Nepali also helps Ganesh preparing meal, cleaning children’s clothes and the house as well. After having their meal at 9 am, children get ready for school. They go to the school by 9:30. The school distance is some 15minutes walk from their children home.
At noon Ganesh Nepali goes for driving college bus, and also search for some aid to the children. His wife Shanti also engages herself in cleaning the home.
Children return from the school by 4:30, after having tiffin they begin play and enjoy some couple of minutes. Simultaneously do homework given in school also.
Ganesh used to think, if we had not sacrificed for those children these children’s plight might be like street children. He is of the opinion that if we had think like orphan children caring job is belongs to government or international aid agency, these children might be victim of various diseases and starvation. His local level efforts let 21 children smiling; get a chance to study, and dream about their well future.
Although, he is being helped by some people from the community, nearby Nepal Army Barrack, Nepal police Post, shopkeepers. They used to help foods and stationary goods.He faced many ups and down while running this children home.
Ganesh is the one motivator for youth who gave positive message to change the society with local level effort. He is Motivator for Change as Mother Teresa used to say do not wait leaders, do it alone: person to person.
