CIAA raids Parsa DPHO‚ seizes documents


BIRGUNJ: Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has raided the Parsa District Public Health Office (DPHO) and confiscated documents for investigation into alleged corruption, on Monday.

A special team deployed under CIAA officer Rewatiraman Bhattarai confiscated the financial documents of past two fiscal years for investigation, said Hariraj Panta, Chief of CIAA’s Regional Office in Heatuda.

The CIAA team reached the DPHO at around 10:30 am and found it unattended. The officials along with DPHO Chief Arun Kumar Mahato arrived half an hour after the CIAA’s raid.

The DPHO officials were allegedly involved in misappropriation of millions of government fund in the name of awareness programs of various kinds of diseases.

Apart from that, the DPHO officials are also under suspicion for embezzling over Rs 2.9 million while procuring medicine and another Rs 15 million under other separate titles.
