Chinese Ambassador calls on CPN-UML chairperson Khanal


KATHMANDU: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai has called on former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal at the latter’s residence, Dallu on Tuesday morning.

During the meeting, the duo discussed about the elections of the constituent assembly and recent political development of the country. Chinese Ambassador appreciated the announcement of the elections of the constituent assembly and expressed readiness to the proposed election. The Chinese Ambassador also appreciated the move of four political parties to allow the interim election government to take decision regarding election of the constituent assembly.

Wu expressed his hope that the election will help bring stability in Nepal, according to CPN-UML’s International Department member Milan Raj Tuladhar. In response, Khanal thanked the Chinese government for supporting the electoral process in Nepal, expressing his hope that the support would continue in future also.

Khanal also informed Wu that he is in touch with CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidhya and other leaders of the dissident parties to convince them for taking part in the election. Leader Khanal also informed that the support of friendly countries is a must to ensure free and fair elections and also for the development of the country. Khanal also informed envoy Wu that his party is working hard to bring harmony between various ethnic groups of the country while opting for the new federal system.
