China wishes durable partnership with Nepal: Envoy Yanqi

KATHMANDU: Chinese Envoy to Nepal, Hou Yanqi has said China wants to have durable partnership with Nepal. She said this during a reception organized by Defense Attaché’ of Embassy of China in Nepal, Liu Xiaoguang, on the occasion of the 92nd founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
China does not wish to expand hegemony, she said, adding that Chinese foreign policy was focused on promotion of peace, prosperity and stability. Chinese accepts the UN peace keeping force.
She further said the State visit by Nepal’s President Bidya Devi Bhandari to China early this year added new dimension in Nepal-China relations. Even the relations between the militaries of the two countries were getting fostered. Mutual military exercises on disaster management are examples of strengthening relations at military level between the two countries, according to her.
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff, Purna Chandra Thapa, reiterated Nepal’s commitment to One China Policy. The common military exercise as the ‘Sagarmatha Exercise’ between Nepal and Chinese armies has further cemented the two-country relations.
On the occasion, Defense Attache Xiaoyuang shared that as many as 39,000 Chinese PLA personnel were serving in various 24 countries under the UN peace keeping mission.
