By N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- President of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), Dr. Lobsang Sangay, has said that China is hell bent towards manufacturing fake Dalai Lamas, but the original Dalai Lama will be the one chosen by the Tibetan people as per their centuries old customs and traditions.
“The right of choosing Dalai Lamas and other reincarnated Lamas should be exclusively within the Tibetan people,” said Dr. Sangay, who runs the CTA from exile in Dharamshala, India.
“We, the Tibetan people, have the full patent and copyright over it. Chinese government can manufacture duplicate Dalai Lamas, but the original is original!” said Dr. Sangay, as he spoke with journalists.
On the question of suppression of minorities including the Tibetans by the Chinese Communist Party and its government, Dr. Sangay said Tibetans were the first among the minorities to brave the Chinese brutalities.
“China has a national policy of discriminating and discouraging Tibetan and other minority languages and cultures, so that they could ‘Sinicize’ the Tibetans and other minorities. Political pressure, repression, economic pressure, forced marriages and rapes of the minority women are the common phenomena for the merciless Chinese government,” said Dr. Sangay.
On the question of how to approach the Chinese government for resolving the Tibet issue, Dr. Sangay said His Holiness Dalai Lama and CTA itself are in favor of initiating mutual dialogues based on non-violent measures.
“Dalai Lama and the CTA stand for a Middle Way Approach,” said Dr. Sangay. “Through dialogues, we need to come to a middle ground, as we need to move ahead on a middle path.”
