Chief Justice urges lawyers to fight for independent judiciary

BHAKTAPUR:
Chief Justice Khilraj Regmi has stressed the need to end the current transition as soon as possible. Saying that the judiciary couldn’t remain untouched from the current transition of the country, he urged one and all to put pressure from all sides to end the current constitutional crisis in the country.
Speaking at an interaction program on “Role of Nepal Bar Association (NBA) in Country’s Present Constitutional Situation” here on Saturday, Chief Justice Regmi said that lawyers should unite to fight against the force that wants to weaken the independent judiciary to ensure people’s rights to justice.
Also speaking at the program, Attorney General Mukti Narayan Pradhan said that NBA should not be developed into a political forum since it would weaken judiciary.
Likewise, NBA President Prem Bahadur Khadka warned for a stern protest against government to exert pressure upon it to step down for paving way for the national consensus government.
