Chairperson of CPN-Maoist terms the proposal of HLPC meaningless

KATHMANDU: One day after the High Level Political Committee (HLPC), the cross-party taskforce of four major political parties formed to assist the Chief Justice led election government, decided to show maximum flexibility for bringing CPN-Maoist and other dissenting parties on board for holding the elections of the constituent assembly on time, chairperson of CPN-Maoist, Mohan Baidya, has termed the proposal of four political parties meaningless.

He also claimed that the views of the government and four major parties that they were flexible to address his party´s demand would count nothing until the Interim Election Government led by Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi and 25-point order on removal of constitutional difficulties were scrapped.

Speaking at a program in Capital on Sunday, Baidya said, “We are against the formation of present non-political government and 25-point order. So, the four big parties need to agree on cancellation of the order first if they were flexible.”

He warned that his party would retaliate with forceful preparation of the parties and government for the election if the demand of the formation of national consensus government through roundtable conference was ignored.

An alliance of 33-political parties led by CPN-Maoist has been disrupting the electoral process and has been saying that they would foil the electoral process if the government moves for the election without fulfilling their demands. They have been demanding formation of partisan government by holding round-table conference and also scrap the 25-point decree issued by the President to form the Chief Justice led election government.

The party has also been denying rumors that the party is planning to unite with UCPN-Maoist before the elections of the constituent assembly. Some critics have been saying that the both factions are trying to foil the CA poll by raising different excuses.
