BAGLUNG: The Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission (EC), Neel Kantha Uprety, has claimed that election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) should be held on consensus of all political parties.
Speaking at an interaction organized by the EC in Baglung on Thursday, Upreti said that there was no alternative to going for election by resolving all problems and urged all parties to take part in the election. The Chief Election Commissioner said that the task still remains to resolve disagreements regarding the election.
The CEC, who is visiting the districts since past week to “to create election atmosphere”, informed that the EC has already listed 11.03 voters with photographs and that over 1 million voters will be added to the list by mid June
He urged all political parties to believe in election to be held by the EC, an important constitutional body of the country, and to participate in it. Upreti further said that declaration of date of election should not be delayed as laws related to election are coming soon, but the country has already headed for election.
Meanwhile speaking to journalists in Baglung, Upreti claimed that the Election Commission has completed the necessary preparations and that there is no reason why the government should take time in fixing the poll date.
