CDC requests Govt. to extend its tenure by 10 more days

KATHMANDU: As the leaders of major political parties yet to agree on the issue of delineating the constituencies, the Constituency Delineation Commission (CDC) has not been able to finalize the number of constituencies.

As it failed to finalize the constituencies the CDC has appealed to the government to extend its tenure by 10 more days as the time was not sufficient to conclude the task given to it.

Spokesperson of the CDC, Tek Prasad Dhungana informed that Chairman Tahir Ali Ansari visited Khil Raj Regmi, Chairman of the Interim Election Council, last night, and submitted the letter for the extension of the CDC tenure. The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday had appointed Chudaraj Upreti as a CDC member in the vacant post after Madhu Nidhi Tiwari, one of the members of the commission, resigned from his post.

The CDC meeting held on Wednesday had decided to appeal the government in this regard. The tenure of CDC will expire on Saturday (August 3). It started works since June 25. This is the second time the CDC is demanding extension of the tenure as its earlier mandate was only for a month.
