Sharad Regmi, Dang: Nepali Congress Central Committee member Deepak Giri has claimed that the proposal to resurrect the Constituent Assembly was a day dream of the ruing coalition.
Speaking at the Reporters Club Nepal’s Dang Chapter on Wednesday, Giri said that the UCPN Maoist were trying to revive the CA, even though they had sabotaged it earlier, for capturing state power.
He opined that the ruling coalition partner should give up that dream and said that his party will support that proposal.
Giri further stated that resurrecting the CA which had failed to draft the constitution even after extending its tenure by two years, will be an insult of the public’s sentiment.
He asserted that as a democratic party Nepali Congress will go for CA elections and seek fresh mandate from the general public.
