KATHMANDU: Although Nepali Congress (NC) stood firm for the provision of threshold in the upcoming elections of the constituent assembly and the debate among four major political parties on whether there should be the provision of threshold or not but once the government issued the ordinance without threshold, NC seems convinced over the logic of the government.
Speaking at a program in Capital on Saturday NC President Koirala said that there was no alternative to the CA election to strengthen democracy which has faced more challenges as nationality has become weaker.
He further stated that the only means to clear the ‘dark clouds’ hovering over democracy is holding the Constituent Assembly (CA) election .
Claiming that conspiracies are rife to derail the proposed CA election , Koirala opined that the media houses should play a supportive role in help creating a conducive environment for the polls.
Also speaking on the occasion, NC leaders Deep Kumar Upadhyay and Dr Minendra Rijal said a new constitution was a must to attain peace, political stability and economic progress in the country and the election was the door to the new constitution.
