KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN (UML), Jhala Nath Khanal, has said the announcement of fresh election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) without preparation and evaluation of the situation was not only unexpected but also unfortunate.
Speaking at a workshop on ‘Peace, prosperity and political consensus and national honor’ organised by the Art Group for the Development in the capital today, he said the nation came to face this political crisis due to the immature decision of the Maoists-led government.
There was no provision of second election to the Constituent Assembly in the interim constitution, he said, adding that there was no way to go for fresh election because there was not parliament to amend constitution too.
“Dissolution of the CA and announcement of elections has created crisis. No statesman can do this,” he stressed.
Chairman Khanal, however, stressed consensus for the solution of crisis.
On the occasion, he honoured various persons contributing to society from the respective sectors. Some of them are Kali Prasad Rijal, Shiv Hari Poudel and Roshan Lumbu.
The programme was presided over by Chairman of Art Group for Development, Bibek Bhattarai. RSS
