
N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- The Government of Nepal has formed a two-member team to hold talks with the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ lead Maoist group.
Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ and Foreign Adviser to the Prime Minister Rajan Bhattarai have formed a dialogue team, said government spokesperson Parbat Gurung.
Gurung said in a statement that a two-member negotiating team has been formed to resolve the issue through talks with the rebel group.
The rebel group is also preparing to form a negotiating team. The group has been banned by the government since 12 March 2019.
After the government formed a two-member negotiating team on Tuesday, the Biplav group is also preparing to form a negotiating team.
A source close to the rebel group told Nepal24hours.com, “After the government forms the committee, a committee will be formed on our behalf as well.”
Earlier, party general secretary Biplov had issued a statement saying that they were positive for the talks.
