Bilateral talks on Nepal-China border security unsuccessful

The meeting between the security officials of Nepal and China was held to discuss on the concern of border crime control. However, the talks did not reach in any substantial outcome.

NEPAL: The meeting between the security officials of Nepal and China was held to discuss on the concern of border crime control. However, the talks did not reach in any substantial outcome.   

In the coordination of Chief District Officer Binita Bhattarai, Nepali team led the border security talks in Taklakot, China’s Barangay County.

Chief District Officer Bhattarai says, “As a concrete decision could not be formed on the issue, neither the higher authority from China nor the decision making authority from Nepal, joined the meeting”.

The issues covered during the meeting were: Strict examination of Tibetan crossing the border, preventing of unauthorized migration, monitoring of anti-china activities, etc. said Bhattarai.

The negotiation did not reach on a conclusion as the Chief District Officer Bhattarai did not sign on the border security related agendas forwarded by the Chinese government. CDO was directed not to sign on any agreement concerning the border security by the Home Ministry of Nepal Government.

After the failure of the meeting, the Humli were upset as they expected it would help to solve current boarder issues. The border negotiations were held in Sera, the Chinese border police station.
