N24 Correspondent, CHITWAN:- Bhim Rawal has registered his candidature for the post of chairperson at the 10th general convention of the CPN-UML in Chitwan.
In the nomination process that started at 8 am on Monday, Rawal has registered his candidature for the upcoming leadership of the party. Mahadev Bajgain is Rawal’s proposer and Dudhakala Bista is his supporter.
Likewise, Ghanshyam Bhusal has registered his candidature for the post of vice-president and Bhim Acharya for the post of secretary at the ongoing 10th National General Convention of the CPN-UML in Chitwan.
Those who are dissatisfied with the list of office bearers and Central Committee members presented by party president KP Sharma Oli in closed session on Sunday night are continuing to register their candidacies.
The Central Election Committee has fixed the time for the registration of candidates till 9:30 am. Earlier, Chairman KP Sharma Oli had submitted the list in a closed session to the central members for approval. With this, the election process is about to begin.
The election process has started at 8 am after the Central Election Commission made public the schedule with amendments. Earlier, the election schedule, which was published on Sunday night to complete the work of candidature from the voter list, was immediately amended.
Application forms will be distributed to the candidates from 8:00 am to 9:20 am as per the latest schedule. Similarly, the candidature will be registered from 8 am to 9:30 am.
The preliminary list of candidates will be published at 10:30 am, said Election Commission, Chief Vijay Subba. Complaints can be lodged against the candidate from 10:30 am to 10:45 am and the complaint will be investigated and decided at 10:50 am.
Similarly, candidates will be given time to return candidature from 11:55 am to 12 noon. The final list of candidates will be published at 12: 5 in the morning and voting will start from 9 in the evening. Voting ends Tuesday at 3 p.m. The counting of votes will take place after the voting.
KP Oli was given the task of making a unanimous effort to select the leadership from the central committee to the office-bearers in the UML. Chairman Oli on Sunday night presented the names of the proposed office bearers and the Central Committee. He read out the names of 19 office bearers and 301 central members.
Oli has added most of the members of the Central Committee of the past. The convention delegates applauded the name he proposed. However, in order to be elected as a central member, the election process has to be completed. The UML will have a 301-member central committee with 19 office bearers.
