Bhawanipur Wetland area emerges as new natural hang out in Itahari

By Birat Anupam, ITAHARI:- Taltalaiya always comes as top-priority natural wonder at Itahari. Not many people are known about Bhawanipur Wetland area. This natural magnet is creating tourism buzz in recent days.
Located at Itahari-19, this wetland is spread within 16.23 hectares of area, says a book titled Itaihashmaa Itahari which roughly translates as Itahari in History.
According to Prem Nirab, a local youth and promoter of this underrated wetland of Itahari, Bhawanipur Wetland is embedded with five natural richness like fishery, irrigation, wetland greens production, picnicking and source of natural springs.
Nirab said the wetland area is also home of wild species like pangolin, wild ducks, tortoise, porcupine, king fisher’s, among others.
This wetland area includes a park named Ganeshman Amusement Park where children enjoy a lot. This is located at 6.8 kilometres away from Itahari square which is accessible both from the East-West Highway and Biratnagar-Dharan highway.
Bhawanipur Wetland aims to update and upgrade its infrastructures, says Nirab. He said their first priority is to expand the area of the pond. Second is to speed up boating service. Other priorities in the pipeline are constructing standard children park and erect some indispensible other infrastructures.
”Previously unknown place has earned some name in recent days,” said Nirab, adding ”Now, we want to make it the must-visit destination in Itharai in the days ahead.” RSS
