Bhattarai govt preparing ordinance to remove hurdles in holding CA election

KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to introduce new laws by July 22 for holding CA elections on November 22.  The government opted for ordinance after the election commission ruled out the possibility to hold CA elections if all legal hurdles were resolved by July 22.

The move comes at a time when the opposition parties have denied to participate in the CA elections claiming it to be unconstitutional.

Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar said that the ordinance will assist in holding CA elections on the slated time.

” We are looking forward to hold CA elections on November 22. While continuing efforts to garner political consensus on the same we are also started homework to formulate new laws so as to remove legal hurdles in it,” Gachhdar said.
The government had held a joint discussion on the issue and was participated by some ministers, secretary, and legal professionals.
