Band goes ugly in Birgunj with clashes


BIRGUNJ:  Banda enforcers clashed with the police today in Birgunj during the Madhes banda called by Broader Madhesi Morcha.

The clash occurred when the police used force against the banda enforcers after they began to vandalize the truck (Na 3 Kha 4348).

According to Chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal, Pradip Yadav, few cadres of Forum Nepal were injured in the clash. Police held two cadres including Pramod Sah, he claimed.

The banda enforcers have vandalized vehicles (Na 1 Ha 947), (Na 2 Kha 4647) and others at Murli, Pratimachowk, and Gandak Chowk in Birgunj for defying the banda, said District Police Office.

The Broader Madhesi Morcha has organized the banda demanding ‘One Madhes, One Province’ in the new constitution.

Similarly, the factories and industries of the Birgunj corridor have been badly affected due to frequent strikes in the recent days called by different political parties and ethnic communities.

Chairman of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ashok Temani said that around 200 factories including-big or medium scale-were directly affected.

He said each day strike could cause loss of Rs 100 million for the entrepreneurs. RSS
