Baidya warns of using force

PALPA: CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya has warned of using force for “national sovereignty” if his party’s demands are ignored. He said that his party was ready to use force to ensure nationalism, people’s rule and people’s livelihood, saying that every nation in the world has used force to achieve power.

Speaking at a press meet organised by Palpa chapter of Federation of Revolutionary Journalists, the CPN-Maoist chairman said his party’s strategy on the type of force to be used would be determined according to the government’s response.

During the meet, Chairman Baidya suggested that all political forces should work together and forge consensus on drafting the new constitution. The incumbent Constituent Assembly (CA) would not be able to draft the new constitution including all sides.

The CPN-Maoist chairman was talking to journalists after attending the training session for the party workers in Palpa, Gulmi and Arghakhaanchi districts. He reiterated his party’s demand for a roundtable to forge consensus on the internal issues of new constitution. But he called on the party cadres to be prepared for agitation during the training session.

Furthermore, Chairman Baidya said the parties inside CA are disregarding the demands put forth by his party despite positive discussions on the same before Prime Minister Sushil Koirala’s US visit.

The CPN-Maoist leader made it clear that the problems cannot be resolved by sidelining the party that fought the people’s war for 10 years. “Though the other parties fight over posts, we have ideologies debate in our party,” he added.
