Attempted rape survivor seeking justice

MAHOTTARI: A girl who survived an attempted rape has reached the district headquarters, Jaleshwor seeking justice.

The girl said Bijaya, 32, son of Kailash Thakur, reached her house while she was alone, assaulted and dragged her to the courtyard, torn her clothes, inflicted wounds over body and touched her sensitive organs before trying to rape her. “At the assault, I screamed and the neighbours came and rescued me,” she said.
She also accused the District Police Office of refusing to register the case, saying the local police beat which is assigned to look after criminal cases in the village where the incident took place said the case was not related to rape rather it was a general brawl between the girl and Bijaya.
The girl also said she was being forced by local political leaders and other people to reconcile and settle the case at local level. RSS
