Android One Program Roots Spread to Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh by Google

Initially Google has launched its Android One program in India this year with Indian smartphone manufacturers like Micromax, Karbonn and Spice. Android One is an initiative started by Californian search engine giant Google, targeting at the people who is buying their first smartphone and to make high-quality smartphone accessible to as many people possible.

Few days ago rumors had surfaced about Google expanding its Android One project to other countries with many OEM’s. As promised the U.S headquarted tech-giant announced about its Android One launch in the countries like Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka today. In addition to the Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V and the recent Spice Dream Uno H, Bangladeshi Handset manufacturer Symphony has collaborated with Google to launch their first-ever Android One smartphone under the name Symphony Roar A50. Further, Google has tied-up with Bangladesh-based operator Banglalink to sell their Android One device.

“With more hardware and carriers launching Android One phones in more countries, we’re excited to see the diverse array of devices our partners will offer in 2015 and beyond” says Mr. Caesar Sengupta, VP, Product Management Recommended: Apple Pay Coming To India: A Guide to Problems and Challenges One Might Face Google revealed that it had a number of partners for the Android One project including smartphone manufacturers like Acer, Alcatel Onetouch, Asus, HTC, Intex, Lava, Lenovo, Panasonic and Xolo, along with chipset manufacturerQualcomm. Moreover, Karbonn mobiles will be releasing its second generation Android One smartphone in Q1 2015. After sometime Google is planning to expand its Android One program further to other countries like Pakistan, Indonesia and Philippines. Also Google informed that, its plans to widen the program to further markets but, hasn’t detailed when or where the program will be expanded. Stay tuned to GizBot for more details!
