ANA Conference is an opportunity to seek business potential in US and serve the motherland: Convener Samir Maharjan

Purushottam Dhakal / NEW YORK – USA: Coordinator of the 31st Association of Nepalese in America (ANA) Samir Maharjan has informed that the 31st conference of ANA is an opportunity to unite Nepalese staying in Northern America, to seek business opportunities and serve the motherland.

Industrialist Kush Kumar Joshi and a delegation of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries are participating in the conference which is going to be held in New York from July 3 to 6 seeking investment for Kathmandu and Hetauda fast track.

According to Maharjan there will be educational fair, presentation from senior comedian Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya (MaHA) apart from rally of Mount Everest Climbers with the equipments used while climbing the Everest. Nepalese Ambassador to the United States Peter J. Bode will also participate in the conference, which is likely to be attended by nearly 10 thousand people. With the objective of contributing for the development of rural areas of Nepal Sudip Shrestha will present the ANA rural development project.

Maharjan informed that efforts are on to make the conference systematic and efforts are on for the exhibition of Nepalese goods and traditions of Nepal. However people are skeptic as the chairperson of the ANA Independent Task Force Chewang Sherpa, who took over the lead of the organization following embezzlement of ANA fund by former chairpersons and founders, did not handover the leadership till third conference since he took over the leadership.

The fact of financial irregularities by former chairpersons and founders came into light during 28th conference and former chairpersons and founders have been boycotting the conference since then. However the organizers claim that former chairpersons and founders will attend the conference this time.

The Independent Task force has sought legal treatment for recovering the fund embezzled by former officials. However some former officials are yet to reimburse the embezzled fund.

According to chairperson of the Task Force Chewang Sherpa Utsav Gurung and a local organization of Mid Boston returned 22 thousand US dolor, while the case against Modini Adhikari is under review at Prince George County Circuit Court of Maryland. Similarly, the task force has been able to recover 29 thousand dolor from Dr. Tulasi Joshi, who misused the Scholarship fund established by ANA. Similarly, the committee has been able to recover property of the organization misused by different organizations.

However 27 former chairpersons and founders including former Chairperson Simon Dhunga are yet to submit the financial records during their tenure. However they were invited as guests in the 31st conference which has raised eyebrows of the people about impartiality of the organization.

According to organizers some renowned persons will be felicitated as ANA hero. According to coordinator Maharjan the conference will be organized with the theme 31st ANA conference for motherland Nepal. Various programs will be organized to five the feeling of Neal during the program.
