‘America is that country where anyone can achieve success with their hard work and dedication’
Bijaya Thapa, Washington, DC: Nepali American Sanjita Pradhan, who is recently appointed to the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders told that her dedication of work in the field of social justice made her to achieve this success. Advisor Pradhan commented that the achievement to soar with happiness is the result of her hard work and dedication in the field of social justice.
“America is the country where anyone can achieve success with their hard work and dedication “, she said. She further added that she owned different feeling of happiness to share the success with every Nepali.
She said, “ The President has selected 19 members in his advisory commission and one out of them is me. All the appointed advisors are expert in either health and business sector or dedicated social workers.”
Pradhan said that she worked for the rehabilitation of Bhutanese refugee for many years and as she was the junior among the member of the committees so she suspect it might be from the senor recommendation.
In our conversation she told that she is a woman who believes in the principle that right issue should be raised at the right time and has been advocating to raise the voice of the voiceless. Nor feared to advocating the voiceless communities, couldn’t tolerate injustice and strengthening the voice of the voiceless is her attributes. We Asian have been facing problem with the language to express the content and suspect that many of us has realized it. Lack of proper language, it’s hard to recognize our necessities so I priorities such scenarios and advocated on their topics. Her father is her source of inspiration.
Suspecting some confusion regarding her appointment, he clearly explained that her appointment is a kind of honorary one and need to work as a volunteer. She expressed her gratitude to the family members as it wasn’t possible to be in this position without their support, cooperation and help.What are the problems of Asian’s? I can help it and can important role and act accordingly. She told us that many people are getting confused regarding her appointment and raised questions, queries, expectation and suggestion.
During the conversation she said,” I haven’t expected that I will reach such a position and I am quite surprised to get it. However, I took it as a prize for working in a human rights sector as being a neutral. “A commitment of appointment has already begun as I have been working in a similar scenario in the State level too”, she explained. She further added that she has been working with the commission at State level.
Pradhan explained that her appointment is for An Asian American and Pacific Islander, so her duty is to work with the Asian community of the United States. She told that her responsibilities mainly focused on monitoring the rules and she is acting easily and perfectly on it. He added that she wants to work for the various issues like temporary protected status, health and many more related to the Nepali communities.
He told that she has reached this position with her own dedication and efforts and trying to write a respectable profile of Nepalese American. She told us that she was from the Chainpur Bazar of Sankhuwashabha district in Koshi Zone, and completed her higher secondary l education from the Vijaya Higher Secondary School of Dharan.
Pradhan, who received an MBA from the Indian Institute of Technology has been associated with the social and refugee management activities in America. She is the first Nepali American getting an opportunity to be included in the American President Advisory commission.
