RUPANDEHI: The State 5 government has extended invitations to all other six State governments for a visit to Lumbini during the Visit Lumbini-2019 programme.
Visit Lumbini Year-2019 aims to attract 2.5 million domestic and international tourists combined to Lumbini where Lord Buddha was born. The tourism promotion-oriented event is commencing on Buddha Purnima which falls on May 18.
The publicity sub-committee of the Ministry for Tourism had visited different places in all States to extend invitation to the governments and all people there to visit Lumbini.
Publicity sub-committee coordinator Bharat KC shared that a team from the Visit Lumbini -2019 programme went to Biratnagar of State 1, Janakpur of State 2, Hetauda of State 3, Pokhara of Gandaki State, Nepalgunj and Butwal of State 5, Dhangadi of Far Western State and Surkhet of Karnali State to extend the invitation reaching out to the concerned officials.
State 5 Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Leela Giri said that Visit Lumbini-2019 was organized to aid in State’s prosperity through promotion of tourism.
According to him, a nation-wide publicity drive had been launched to attract as many as domestic tourists to visit the birth place of Lord Buddha as well as other archeological sites scattered within the 50-km radios of Lumbini. “We have received an encouraging reaction from all States. All have pledged to help make Visit Lumbini-2019 year a success. It is certainly a matter of joy,” said KC.
Similarly, Ministry Secretary Dhananjaya Poudel said that Visit Lumbini Year- 2019 was announced to promote Lumbini among the one and half billion Buddhist followers across the world.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to launch this promgramme. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, State ministers and State assembly members among others will also attend the inaugural of Visit Lumbini- 2019.
