KATHMANDU;- An all-party meeting convened by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to end the stalemate in the federal parliament has begun. The meeting held at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar was attended by the top leaders of all the parties represented in the federal parliament except the main opposition CPN (UML), according to the PM’s Secretariat.
On behalf of the Nepali Congress, Prime Minister and Party President Deuba, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha, CPN (Unified Socialist) General Secretary Beduram Bhusal and leader Rajendra Pandey. Mahanta Thakur and Rajendra Mahato of the Democratic Socialist Party of Nepal and Janata Samajwadi Party of Nepal Leader Rajendra Shrestha, Nepal Mazdur Kisan Party leader Prem Suwal, Rastriya Janamorcha Vice President Durga Poudel and others were present, said Keshav Raj Joshi, Private Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Parliamentary Party.
It is stated that the meeting will discuss the current political issues including removing the obstacles seen in the operation of the parliament. The main opposition party CPN (UML) has been obstructing the sitting of the parliament since the beginning of the current session expressing dissatisfaction with some of the actions of the speaker.
