KATHMANDU: Agitating Adhikari couple Nanda Lal and Ganga Maya Adhkari of Fujel VDC-7, Gorkha district, who were on fast-unto-death since last 47 days seeking action against perpetrator involved in the murder of his son Krishna Prasad Adhikari, have finally ended their hunger strike by drinking juice on late Saturday night.
Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister Krishna Hari Banskota offered juice to Adhikari couple. A three-point agreement was signed by both sides — the Adhikari couple and the government.
The couple had earlier maintained that they would strike only after the two other main culprits were arrested to ensure that the government was fully committed to taking action against the guilty in the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari back in 2004.
Earlier on Friday, police had arrested, Ram Prasad Adhikari, one of the 11 accused in the murder Krishna Prasad Adhikari from Bagbazaar, Kathmandu. UCPN-Maoist has organized general strike against arrest of its party cadre allegedly involved in the incident.
Earlier, the government was preparing for forcefully feeding the couple after they could not agree to break the strike despite assurances from different quarters including the government authorities.
