“A quarter of employees lost their jobs in the lockdown, mostly in the hotel sector”: Nepal
KATHMANDU: A study found that 22.5 percent of workers lost their jobs after a lockdown to stop the spread of the corona infection.
Announcing the study report on the impact of the Corona epidemic, the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) said that industries/businesses have cut 22.5 percent of their staff.
According to the study report, more than two-thirds of the cuts are temporary and contract workers. The hotel and restaurant sector has cut the most staff, according to the report.
Moreover, domestic industries and small enterprises / small retailers have cut more employees / workers than others during the period.
