95 per cent COVID-19 infected are new entrants to country

KATHMANDU:- The number of COVID-19 infected has crossed 9,000 in the country. According to the latest update of Ministry of Health and Population, there are 9,026 cases of COVOD-19 till today.
Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases Control Division Director Dr BasudevPandey shared that the cases of COVID-19 was on rise but the virus has not spread in the community-level so far.
In a regular press briefing at the Ministry, Dr Pandey shared that 95 per cent of the total cases are new entrants to the country from overseas and most of them are India returnees.
He added that 92 per cent of the infected are men.
Similarly, Ministry’s spokesperson, Dr Jageshwar Gautam shared that 421 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in the country on Sunday. He added that 357 of them are males and 64 are females. With this, the number of infected has reached 9,026 as they were tested for COVID-19 positive via PCR test.
Similarly, a 69-year old man of Mainadanda of Gulmi district died of CIVID-19 on Sunday. With this, 23 persons lost their lives due to COVID-19 infection in the country till date.
Likewise, 1,772 people returned home after complete recovery from COVID-19 following the treatment.
It is said that 6,008 persons are tested via PCR methods while 9,874 via RDT methods in past 24 hours.
According to Gautam, a total of 175,173 are tested via PCR methods while 262,174 via RDT methods so far in the country. Gautam added that 94,928 people are kept in different quarantine facilities while 7,231 in isolation in the country.
