N24 Correspondent, POKHARA:- As many as 75 people have been stranded in the upper region of Manang due to incessant rains.
Chief District Officer of the District Administration Office, Manang, Bishnu Lamichhane informed that they were stranded in the Himalayan region due to bad weather.
Lamichhane informed that they were stranded at an altitude of more than 5,000 meters.
“It has been raining continuously since Asti. Today was the day to rescue. However, the weather did not open, “said Lamichhane.” If the weather clears, they will be rescued in the first phase tomorrow.
CDO Lamichhane said that those trapped in the village of Odar, Talchai in Manang like Fu are yet to be rescued. ‘Those who are stranded in the cave are living in the forest. We were also told to rescue them in the afternoon. However, due to bad weather, the helicopter had to return, ‘he said.
He said only 35 people had been rescued on Thursday. They have been rescued from different parts of the district. Of those rescued, only 24 are from Siran Lake.
More than 1,000 people have been displaced in Manang district due to continuous rains for the past four days. Lamichhane said that 300 of the displaced were kept in the district jail building and the rest in school buildings in different wards.
