57th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Russia marked


Krishna Prakash Shrestha / Moscow Russia: Nepali Embassy in the Russia organized a function to mark the 57th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Russia (Soviet Union). Representative of Foreign Ministry of Russia, representatives of Russia-Nepal friendly and Cooperation Society, Non Residential Nepali Association and representatives of different organizations took part in the celebration.

Nepali Ambassador to Russia Dr. Rabi Mohan Sapkota said that both the countries have been maintaining cordial relations in the areas of politics, economy and cultural areas since the establishment of diplomatic ties between both the countries. He also lauded the role of experts, who received higher degrees under the scholarship plan of Russia, for the development of the country. He also thanked all for taking part in the celebration, which he believed played important role to maintain cordial relations between two countries.

Chief Guest of the Program Director of Second Asia Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jamir Naviachiv Kabulov mentioned that there are big changes in the Russia and Nepal like the dissolution of Russian Federation and replacement of Nepal as a kingdom.

He also expressed happiness over Nepal attracting some Russian Tourists. He also added happiness that the relations would further strengthened in the future.

Abdul Rahaman Halil Ogli Vejirov, who has served as Russian Ambassador to Nepal for five years and have written a memorial about Nepal, reminded the years of cooperation between Nepal and India. Many students have gone to Russia for higher studies in coordination with the Ministry of Education. He also talked about the inauguration of Russian Embassy Complex in Kathmandu. The complex was inaugurated by the then King Birendra. He also claimed that Kathmandu has gone drastic change as compared to the time while he was serving in Nepal.

Former Chairperson of Non Residential Nepali Association, Dr. Maniraj Pokharel carried out the task of translator during the occasion. Nepali Ambassador and his spouse organized a dinner party to all the participants.

After the completion of the formal program, Chairperson of World Nepali Literature Federation Russia Dr. Madhu Krishna Shrestha ‘Madhurya’ and Chairperson of Russian Chapter Govinda Prasad Gautam facilitated some literatures Dr. Rabindra Prasad Pandey, Bhuban Hari Sigdel, Prakash Chapagain and Goma Acharya for their contribution in the field of Nepali literature.
