SURKHET:- Flood survivors of Surkhet who have been residing under the tent since 2014 now have got their well-built homes.
Residence has been so far constructed for 531 flood affected households of seven local levels with the assistance of Karnali province government.
The Karnali Province Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law had aided cash Rs 300,000 each to the flood-ravaged households on three installments for the construction of their houses.
It may be noted that the province cabinet meeting held on 9 April 2020 had decided to provide Rs 300,000 each to the flood affected families for the construction purpose.
According to the ministry, 233 flood survivors have obtained newly-built houses in Birendranagar. Among other recipients are 12 in Lekbesi municipality, 44 in Barahatal municipality, 160 in Bheriganga municipality, 33 in Gurbhakot municipality, 84 in Panchapuri municipality and six families in Chaukune municipality.
The massive floods occurred in the Rapti River and other local rivulets here on 13-14 August 2014 had left 115 people dead and over 1,000 households displaced.
