KATHMANDU: Seventeen people working in the frontline to combat the pandemic coronavirus infection were awarded in federal capital on Friday. Destination Nepal feted those people with ‘Corona Defence Award 2020’. On the occasion, supreme master of Bodhisatwa Bihar was honoured with ‘Hero of the Corona Defence Award-2020’.
The organization had supported the hospitals, security personnel and journalists during the time of lockdown. Former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai honoured those personalities and praised the roles played from private and institutional levels to contain the pandemic virus. Likewise, Vice-Chair of Nepal-Mumbai Chamber of Commerce Ramesh Kumar Pathak was given away ‘Corona Defence Achievement Award’ while Chairman of Seven Summit Treks Mingma Sherpa was given ‘Corona Defence Nobel Award’. Fourteen other socialites were given ‘Corona Defence Award-2020’.
Those include Chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-3 Dipak KC, tourism entrepreneurs Tejendra Sharma Poudel, Gita Gurung, Kamala Gurung, Ramesh Gautam, Phurikitar Sherpa, Santosh Rai, Captain Ramesh Shrestha, Hira Pandey, Dil Bahadur Tamang, Suman Karki, journalists Ramji Bagale and Shiva Devkota, and photo journalist Tej Bahadur Basnet. During the event, lawmaker Bahadur Singh Lama, Chairman of Destination Nepal Group Shiva Adhikari and others expressed their opinions.
